February brings images of hearts and flowers, and chocolate. Colors of pink and red and thoughts of love. February can also be depressing for those who find themselves alone in the month of love. The anti-valentine trend has caught on and gets equal play among the romantics of the world. I once worked with someone who celebrated anti-valentine day. She even had a cake made!

Here at All for One, I want you to know you are loved, not because you have someone or because you haven’t, but simply because you are you. You have been created with a purpose. The Bible assures us that we have

Psalm 139:13-15

For You created my innermost parts;
You wove me in my mother’s womb.
I will give thanks to You, because I am awesomely and wonderfully made
Wonderful are Your works,
And my soul knows it very well.
My frame was not hidden from You
When I was made in secret,
And skillfully formed in the depths of the earth; (NASB)

And again,

 For I know the plans that I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans for prosperity and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope. (Jeremiah 29:11 NASB)

The prophet Jeremiah was also assured that,

Jeremiah 1:4-6

“…Before I formed you in the womb I knew you,
And before you were born I consecrated you;
I have appointed you as a prophet to the nations.” (NASB)

All these passages remind us that we are created with purpose and hope. We are not here on this planet to just guess at life.

I admit it takes a while sometimes for us to find our way and figure out what that purpose is or even to embrace that purpose when we do know it. I am in my fifties and have known for a long time what my purpose is but have hidden, run from or denied my purpose. The weird thing is that even as I have done these things, I have longed for purpose at the same time. I ran in fear. What if I’m not good enough? What if I am? Who would want to read anything I write? I’m not smart enough. The list goes on.

Now here I am almost a year into All for One admitting I still don’t know a lot, but I have learned and I am still learning. Maybe that is what it is all about. Maybe the same is true for you, too. Just taking the first step of faith. Stick your toe into the water. I can’t tell you if you will fail or succeed. I don’t even know that for myself. I just know that when you follow your purpose, that is the beginning of success.

February is not about pink hearts and love; it’s about knowing who you are and that you are created with purpose. And maybe even a cake.

All for One
